Conscious info-marketers
I spent the last four days at the amazing Wisdom 2.0 conference (thanks to Terry for introducing me to it last year).
A big take-away is that conscious startups are for real, I’m not the only one thinking along these lines (hello, Asana), and the message really resonates with people. I’m glad to see that.
But another big take-away is that there are so many people out there with important messages, with important skills and insights, they want to contribute, as coaches, consultants, teachers, trainers, facilitators, instigators, or whatnot. The kinds of people for whom I have created zenbilling. In short, info-marketers.
But right now, the state of info-marketing is pretty grim. It all too often has the distinct whiff of scams, used-car, infomercial-style marketing, lots of fear tactics, lots of deception, manipulation, stuff that makes you go ‘yuck’. There’s a lot of good people with great stories and great messages and great skills, who end up turning to these tactics, even though they feel dirty, because it seems to be the only answer available out there.
I believe - I know - that there is another way, and I want to show the world what that way is. It’s a way that’s simple, but not easy.
Current info-marketers promise people a solution that’s plug-and-play, follow the steps, fill in the blanks. It’s easy, repeatable, if perhaps a bit complex. But the truth of the matter is, it rarely works. They will highlight the 5% of cases where it does work, but for most people, most of the time, it doesn’t work, despite the promises. What it does do is transfer wealth from you to them. Consistently, repeatably, every time.
So I’ve gone ahead and purchased the domain consciousinfomarketers.com. Nothing there yet, I just bought it, but I just wanted to give you a heads-up, that I’m going to be publishing some great stuff on how to become a conscious (and conscientious) info-marketer. And of course it’ll be free. My mission is not to profit massively off of this. My mission is to enable all the amazing people with great stories and great insights and great content to find their right people and get their message out to them.
It’s not going to be easy. But it’s definitely possible, and it’s very much worth it. And I want to support you in that work.
Let’s rock this boat like it’s 2012!
