Seth Godin suggests you talk nice to yourself
And the flip side—when talking to ourselves, what if we were a little more supportive?
It’s not an easy habit, but it works.
We humans tend to internalize all the criticism we’ve ever heard, and then we run it over and over again inside our own heads, hitting ourselves harder than anyone outside of us ever did.
And when we get kids, we tend to repeat that pattern over again with them.
How about if we could only talk to ourselves (and our kids) in the most loving, kind, gentle, understanding way?
The way our parents should’ve talked to us when we were kids?
If we all just made that one change, and did it consistently, it would completely change the history of the world.
