The quote is from WALL-E, which I saw recently (thanks to @erskingardner). And it's so central to every little decision we make every moment of every day. Literally. Because your lizard brain is constantly concerned with your survival. Constantly trying to make sure you'll survive. But in order to actually live, you have to stop listening to your lizard brain and start doing the things that make you come alive. Even when it's scary. Especially when it's scary. I love it when a profound truth can be found in the most mundane of places. But that's often exactly how it is. Because the truth is always right in front of us, we're just not very good at paying attention.
