Quote: Trust and respect rather than control and fear

Just stumbled on this quote in the article about the Apple-AT&T relationship in the latest issue of Wired:

Back in 2007, when AT&T (then Cingular) and Apple executives disclosed the deal publicly, they spoke of a radical collaboration — one based on trust and respect as opposed to the usual dynamics of control and fear — that could serve as a new model for the wireless industry.

(Emphasis mine)

It's pretty rare that I see that distinction spelled out so clearly in a place like Wired.

I think this distinction goes for just about everything in life. Coming from trust and respect (aka love) might not always get you the result you think you're after. But fear and control tends to have negate side effects at a deeper level.
