I’m attending the Wisdom 2.0 conference in San Francisco, and I’m getting the message loud and clear: Turn off the devices. Pause. Slow down. Pay attention. Be present. Focus on one thing at a time.
It actually started with my coach, Tripp, on Wednesday. He helped me realize how much of my time I spend in firefighting mode. I know inside that it’s not healthy, but I’ve been doing it anyway.
Then Thursday I was listening to an audio by Steve Chandler about “The Focused Leader”, where he talks about the same thing, and that one really hit home.
“But … I just feel so overwhelmed… if I can just go a little bit faster, it’ll all work out…”
There’ll never be enough time in the day. I’ll never have enough time to do everything I want to do. Rushing doesn’t work. Slow down. Do one thing at a time. Pay attention. Be present.
And now, I’m here at Wisdom 2.0, and that’s the message I keep hearing over and over again in keynotes and breakout sessions alike.
Slow down. Turn off your devices. Focus. Breathe. Take time to do things right. Have real connection with other humans, not through devices. Show them that you care and value them.
So that’s what I’m going to do.
